Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Ritmo Data (“we”, “us”, “our”) develops and publishes the Ritmo Telemetry Engine desktop software. We are based in British Columbia, Canada and are subject to BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. What We Collect and Why

We collect only what is necessary to operate the Software and its licensing system. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

2.1 Licence Activation. When you activate a Trial or Pro licence we collect:

Your email address — to identify your account and send licence-related communications (activation confirmation, subscription receipts).
Your licence key — to validate your entitlement.
A machine identifier — a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of hardware attributes on your computer, used solely to bind the licence to one machine at a time and prevent unauthorised sharing. This hash cannot be used to identify you or your hardware outside of the licence system.

This information is transmitted to Keygen.sh, our licence management provider, for the purpose of validating and recording your licence.

2.2 Purchase and Billing. If you purchase a Pro subscription, your payment and billing details are collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and Merchant of Record. Ritmo Data does not receive or store your credit card or banking information.

2.3 Crash Logs. The Software generates a local crash log file (ritmo_crash.log) stored on your machine at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Ritmo\. This file is not transmitted to us automatically. You may be asked to share it voluntarily when contacting support, in which case it may contain diagnostic information such as software version, operating system version, and error stack traces. It does not contain your telemetry data files.

2.4 Telemetry Data Files. Motorsport telemetry data that you load into the Software is processed entirely on your local machine. It is never transmitted to Ritmo Data servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Activate and validate your software licence.
Prevent licence misuse and unauthorised sharing.
Send transactional emails related to your licence or subscription (e.g. activation confirmation, renewal notices, expiry warnings).
Respond to support requests you initiate.
Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating and supporting the Software.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under PIPA and PIPEDA, we rely on the following bases:

Contract — processing is necessary to fulfil your licence agreement with us.
Legitimate interest — preventing licence fraud and securing our software.
Consent — where you voluntarily provide information (e.g. sharing a crash log with support).

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share personal information only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the Software:

Both providers process data under their own privacy policies. We have entered into data processing agreements with each provider where required. We do not share your information with any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

Licence and account data is retained for as long as your licence is active, and for a reasonable period thereafter (up to 2 years) for support and dispute purposes.
If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information from our systems within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.
Local files on your machine (licence vault, crash logs) are removed when you uninstall the Software or manually delete them.

7. Your Rights

Under PIPA (BC) you have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you.
Request access to your personal information.
Request correction of inaccurate information.
Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations).
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ritmo-data.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC at www.oipc.bc.ca.

8. Security

Licence credentials stored on your machine are protected using SHA-256 cryptographic hashing and are machine-locked to prevent use on another computer. Data transmitted during licence verification is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

9. Children

The Software is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Software or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Software after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
